The unusual props will be open ended materials, which are easily sourced and enhance the imagery of children, making storytelling more engaging. Ana Sousa Gavin
Ana Sousa Gavin holds a BSc in Psychology and a Specialist Diploma in Early Years Education. She teaches StoryPlay and StoryArt to young children at the Singapore American School. She is a member of the Storytelling Association Singapore. I believe that the human mind is wired to think in story form. Young children have little life experience thus think better in concrete terms rather than in abstract. Props provide concrete tools to work on a story and manipulate thoughts.
