Course details

The CompTIA A+ Certification is an internationally recognised qualification that indicates that you possess the knowledge and skills to maintain PC hardware and software. The syllabus and exams are administered by an independent organisation, the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA). CompTIA A+ is accredited by ANSI to show compliance with the ISO 17024 Standard and, as such, undergoes regular reveiws and updates to the exam objectives

• CompTIA A+ 220-801 covers the fundamentals of computer technology, installation and configuration of PCs, laptops and related hardware, and basic networking.
• CompTIA A+ 220-802 covers the skills required to install and configure PC operating systems, as well as configuring common features (e.g. network connectivity and email) for mobile operating systems Android and Apple iOS.

Successful candidates will have the knowledge required to assemble components based on customer requirements, install, configure and maintain devices, PCs and software for end users, understand the basics of networking and security/forensics, properly and safely diagnose, resolve and documnet common hardward and software issues whole applying troubleshooting skills. Successful candidates will also provide appropriate support; understand the basics of virtualisation, desktop imaging, and deployment.

A+ PC Fundamentals

This is a two day course which begins the introduction to PC technology as identified by the objectives in the COMPTIA A+ Certification track.

A+ Essentials

This is a 6 day course in two 3 day modules. Students will learn how to install and maintain PC hardware. The course covers system components, their function and what to do when failures occur.

• Startup errors
• Power supply and electrostatic discharge
• Identify, remove and replace motherboard components
• Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) and expansion buses
• Installing and configuring storage devices and peripherals
• Networking hardware
• Preventative maintenance
• Recognising and troubleshooting common problems

A+ Elective: IT Technician

This is a 6 day course in two 3 day modules. Students will learn how to work with Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT and Windows 2000 operating systems. Experience will be gained in installing and managing the Windows family of operating systems
