The Level 4 programme is intended for those aspiring to become facilities managers or those in middle management with little fm experience and who wish to enhance their specialist and management skills. A degree is not needed to get started in FM. Level 4 makes it easy to start in FM regardless of one's background. Learners may be working in front of house or in a hotel job and encouraged to train in fm to acquire more skills. There are plenty of opportunities in fm - everything from shopping centres to hospitals and even skyscrapers

Study

Learners may need to develop new skills, such as analysis, communication and a range of presentation methods. The tutorials will focus on both subject information and skills necessary to support the assessments. Attending all the college sessions will generally not be adequate for individuals to complete the programme or units. Learners must expect to frequently allocate a significant amount of their own time in order to research, prepare, edit, finalise and submit assignments in order to be successful.

To achieve a Level 4 BIFM Certificate in Facilities Management, candidates will need to complete:

• Mandatory units, having a credit total of 12 
• Optional units to reach the credit total of 12 
• To reach the overall credit target of 24

Mandatory units - 12 credits 

• Overview of Facilities management - FM 4.01 6 credits 
• Managing health and safety in own area of facilities management FM 4.05 6 credits 

Optional units - minimum of 12 credits (16 credits available) 

• Understanding people management in facilities management FM 4.03 8 credits 
• Understanding property, fabric and building services maintenance for facilities managersFM 4.17 8 credits
