Course details

Every manager should have an understanding of their health and safety responsibilities, and this flexible course aims to help managers to develop the skills they need to tackle safety and health issues in the workplace.

Course Objectives:

Course Content:

• Managers'/supervisors' responsibilities and the impact of the law 
  
• Assessing risks - hazard identification, the concept of "risk", 5- step guide to risk assessment 
  
• Controlling risks - hierarchy of risk controls, the concept of "reasonable practicability", cost-effectiveness in controlling risks. Costs of failure. 
  
• Understanding the hazards 
  
• Investigating incidents - accidents, near-misses, and dangerous occurrences. Developing an investigation format, the importance of evidence. Reporting on findings. 
  
• Measuring performance- active and reactive monitoring within a management system 
  
• Protecting our environment
