Course details
The Occupational English Test (OET) is a test of English for healthcare professionals. The OET is used in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore among others to assess the Medical English skills of a wide range of healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses and midwives.
Healthcare professionals require a grade B in the OET to work in the UK. Grade B is an advanced level of English, equivalent to IELTS band 7 and C1 in the Common European Framework (CEF).
You will study a wide range of medical language, with a specific focus on communicating effectively with patients and their families. You will work on exam strategies specifically tailored to your needs and your profession.
The morning sessions will focus on listening and reading (these sessions are the same for doctors and nurses) while the afternoon sessions will develop your skills for the speaking and writing exams (these sessions are specific to doctors and nurses, so you will study in separate groups).
The course looks at exam techniques and strategies, including full exam practice.
