Learn skills during the course that includes identifying the locations of permanently assigned sources, allocating monitors in the production gallery, identifying and confirming the characteristics of required transitions, including which to programme in advance and which to do manually, assigning settings for specified transitions and select and effect transitions between sources; and , reporting any problems or faults.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

• Perform functionality tests (checks an synchronisation) to ensure that the equipment is in good working order, prior to the broadcast
• Identify selectable sources to the mixer by determining the appropriate bus to be used as part of the production process
• Identify monitors in the production gallery by determining which monitor will show the programme bus and preview bus
• Identify and confirm characteristics of transitions and assign settings for specified transitions to meet the creative vision
• Select and apply effects and transitions between sources and ensure smooth transitions between shots that meet the creative vision
• Identify and report any problems or faults with the equipment and/or sources, transitions and live broadcasts to ensure a smooth broadcast
