Learn the basic skills and knowledge of assisting in patient care activities, general housekeeping, transporting and dispatching of documents and specimens. Upon completion of this course, you can work in a hospital, nursing home or day rehabilitation centre.

Full Qualification Modules

• Demonstrate understanding of the healthcare environment
• Apply legal and regulatory procedures in a healthcare setting
• Lifting, transferring and positioning of patients
• Handle and dispose waste
• Comply with workplace safety and health policies and procedures
• Perform transporting of patients and dispatch activities
• Assist patients with elimination related activities
• Assist patients with basic hygiene activities
• Assist patients with oral feeding
• Perform general cleaning activities

Assessment Methods

Oral/written tests, assignments and practical performance

Graduation Criteria

The criteria for graduation are based on students’ attendance and assessment results. Students must meet the 75% attendance criteria, as well as complete and pass all assessments of the course before they are able to graduate and receive their Certificate. All full qualification courses comprise theory, practical and clinical attachment assessments

Entry Requirements

• Able to listen, speak, read and write in English
• Recommended proficiency level of ESS Workplace Literacy & Numeracy (WPLN) Level-3 or equivalent
• Certified medically fit for healthcare work by approved clinics
• Completing a successful employability interview by HMI-IHS
