This program will give you both the Certificate III in Health Services Assistance and a Senior VCAL Certificate. These qualifications are highly sought after by employers. The program is designed to provide learners with a unique way to enter the health care industry or hospitals whilst still completing your senior secondary school certificate. This then leads into the Diploma of Nursing.

The Patient Services Assistant (PSA) stream teaches learners how to comply with infection control policies and procedures in health work and understand basic medical terminology. This may provide learners with employment opportunities as a support worker, orderly, patient service attendant, wards assistant and patient support or care assistant in a hospital.

The VCAL units of literacy, numeracy, personal development and work skills will be integrated into the learners’ training. A large amount of the training is theoretical, but you will work on a number of health-related projects either through community service or industry placements.

On successful completion of this program learners are eligible for the dual awards of Senior VCAL and the Certificate III in Health Services Assistance.
