    This course has been awarded 14 CME credit hours by the Department of Health (Abu Dhabi)

    Preceptorship is a key performance requirement of the Nursing and Midwifery Council. This two-day course has been developed to provide preceptors with the necessary skills, attitudes and behaviours required to precept new staff more effectively. The target group is registered nurses who have a responsibility to precept new nurses in their working environment.

    Course topics include:
    • What is Preceptorship?
    • Roles and responsibilities of the Preceptor and Preceptee
    • Preceptor Skills
    • The phases of the Preceptorship process
    • Cultural differences and communication
    • Conflict management in the workplace
    On completion of the course, you should be able to:
    • Explain how to successfully facilitate the preceptorship process when initiating a preceptor/preceptee relationship
    • Identify challenges that can complicate the progress of a preceptee and apply strategies to overcome these challenges
    • Discuss how to provide effective feedback to nurses from different generations, by taking generational and cultural differences into account
