Course Description:

This course is aimed at managers in the retail environment who would like to enhance their managerial competence in the retail environment and enhance the performance of their areas of responsibility in the process. We focus on techniques and concepts applicable to this challenging environment.

• Understanding your retail environment as a system and applying systems analysis as a problem-solving and decision-making tool
• Strategic alignment - aligning own area of responsibility to business strategy and direction
• Practical Leadership - applying suitable leadership and communication styles to influence and optimise individual performance, motivate people and provide direction
• Securing the right people - applying functional analysis and a competence-based approach
• Effective delegation, monitoring and control with an improvement or coaching focus
• Dealing with conflict in the workplace
• Effective self-management (you cannot manage others if you cannot manage yourself)
