Code of Practice for the Governance of State Bodies is the key guidance document on the corporate governance expectations of State Bodies and other organisations operating to public sector norms. Since its publication there have been developments in how the Code is interpreted and a new edition is in the course of preparation. State Bodies are required to confirm to their relevant Minister that they are in compliance with the requirements of the Code.

This half-day briefing will provide an overview on the most important issues in the Code, the implications of subsequent legislative and administrative developments and likely future developments.

Objectives

Upon completion of this training, participants will have:

• A knowledge of the key areas addressed in the Code and how they are interpreted
• An appreciation of the principles underling governance expectations
• An understanding of several potential pit falls
