Surround Sound Basics is an introductory course for sound engineers, mixers, sound recordists, post production people, systems and broadcast engineers and technical managers. It provides the knowledge and skills needed to understand, evaluate and apply modern surround sound systems and coding standards in a production or broadcast environment. It builds the basis for production and engineering oriented surround sound seminars and is a Dolby approved training course.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Basics of hearing and spatial perception, channel formats
- Microphone setups for surround sound capturing
- Signal routing, panning and mixing
- Key technologies: AD-conversion, clocking and synchronization, interfaces
- Dolby E in a production and broadcast workflow, hardware and software coding
- Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus in an advanced broadcast workflow
- System design and integration in SD, HD and IPTV infrastructures
