Our MPH programme is designed to suit the needs of those seeking skills required for Public Health practice and to conduct epidemiologic, clinical and health services research. It is ideal for professionals who are working, or intend to work, in organizations that are engaged in disease prevention and control, health policy, planning and promotion, and occupational and environmental health.
Core
The core curriculum aims to provide you with a strong foundation in epidemiologic and quantitative methods. In addition, key areas of lifestyle and behavior, the environment and work, and health policy and systems provide the basis for addressing Public Health challenges.
Elective Modules
You are encouraged to identify your areas of interest and further develop them and your skills by completing modules offered in various areas: Epidemiology & Disease Control, Quantitative Methods, Environmental/ Occupational Health, Health Systems and Policy, Health Education and Promotion, Health Services Research and Global Health.
Practicum
A Practicum project is designed for you to synthesize and apply the knowledge and skills gained through the MPH programme. To tailor your learning journey, a SSHSPH faculty member will help you to plan and conduct the Practicum Project. The practicum project can be:
· A study that describes the extent of a specific Public Health problem and analyses the factors contributing to it
· The evaluation of an existing health programme
· An analysis of a specific health policy question including the key options and implications
