This course aims to provide a qualification for students interested in working in the expanding Security Industry. It combines the business & practical skills required to have a successful career in this area. This course would appeal to students considering a career in the Garda Siochana, Harbour Police, Prison Service or Airport Police. Students will supplement their studies with work experience in a relevant area.

Awarding Body:

Further Education & Training Awards Council (FETAC)/QQI – Security Studies Award, Level 5.

Career Opportunities:

Security Management, Retail Security, Security Officer, Garda Siochana, Airport Police, Prison Officer or establishing own business - Security Company.

Further Education:

Students who complete this award are eligible to apply for full membership of the Security Institute of Ireland (SII).

Minimum Entry Requirements:

Leaving Certificate/Leaving Certificate Applied or equivalent standards of education. Exemptions may be granted to mature students. All entry is subject to interview.
