(General: (44 hoursWelding processes and weld defects; properties of X- and gamma-rays; sensitometry; film selection; film processing and spurious indications; factors controlling contrast and definition, X- and gamma-ray equipment; ionizing radiation hazards, regulations, use of screens and filters; selection of angle of aspect, image quality indicators, defect depth location, castings, reporting.

(Specific: (12 hours
Specification training using:
(1) The Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, ASME V, Article 2
(2) The API Pipeline Welding Code, API 1104 (optional)
(3) The AWS Structural Welding Code, AWS (optional)
Practical: (24 hours)
(1) Film interpretation using large, assorted films containing a variety of welding and film processing defects.
(2) Hands-on training of film processing (manual film processing).
(3) Demos for RT exposure geometry for different plate and pipe articles
