There has never been a greater need for Directors of Services to exercise strategic leadership than in these challenging times. Working in this environment of radical change requires them to make difficult choices regarding service priorities and resource allocation. They also need to build the capacity and enthusiasm for change within themselves, their senior team and their organisations.

The Masterclasses, designed by the IPA in conjunction with the LGDA, will enable participants to:

• Take up their strategic roles with confidence
• Make considered and realistic decisions about resource allocation
• Use strategic workforce planning techniques to make the most of their human resources
• Harness the power of innovation and change
• Realise the potential of a high performing senior management team
• Develop professional networks among peers and others

Each masterclass is designed to be interactive and practical. It will use a mixture of structured inputs, facilitated group work, experiential exercises, case scenarios, reflective practice, and debate and discussion with experts and guest speakers. Guest speakers will be from both the public and private sectors.
