The industry-focused economy of Qatar means that a safety-focused workforce can save lives and money. The first in a series of courses on safety, this introductory course will take a look at the key principles and components of good process safety management systems, as well as how performance in these areas varies between countries, industries and companies. Common process hazards (flammability, toxicity and exothermic reactions) and accident investigation will also be covered.
Course Content:
Introduction, industrial accident statistics
Management systems in general, safety management in particular. The four quadrant model
Hazard identification, risk reduction, inherent safety and principles of risk assessment
Toxic hazards and occupational health
Flammability of gases, vapors and powders
Hazardous area classification
Exothermic reaction hazards
Learning from accidents and incidents
Who should attend?
This course is introductory and intended for those who are starting a career in process safety management. Delegates are likely to have a degree in engineering or science or equivalent industrial experience. Experience of working in the process industries will be an advantage. A course manual is provided in the form of a hard copy of the overheads used and a certificate is awarded to those who successfully complete the course. Delegate numbers are normally restricted to a maximum of 25.
