Entry Requirements
At least 15 years old as of 1st January of the examination year.
Applicants should meet one of these additional requirements:
At least Secondary 2 education with Pass in English and Mathematics OR
Pass the BMC GCE 'N' Level Entrance Test
Admission is subject to approval by the management. Application which does not meet any of the additional requirements shall be treated on case-by-case basis.
Module
A. ENGLISH (Subject Code: 1190)
This module prepares the students to communicate effectively in English as a result of their development in the following areas:
Listen, read and view critically and with accuracy, understanding and appreciation a wide range of literary and informational/functional texts from print and non-print sources.
Speak, write and represent in internationally acceptable English (Standard English) that is grammatical, fluent, mutually intelligible and appropriate for different purposes, audiences, contexts and cultures.
Understand and use internationally acceptable English (Standard English) grammar and vocabulary accurately and appropriately as well as understand how speakers/writers put words together and use language to communicate meaning and achieve impact.
B. MATHEMATICS (Subject Code: 4042)
This syllabus is intended to cater students with the essential mathematical concepts and skills. Likewise, the general aim of this syllabus is to enable students to acquire the necessary mathematical concepts and skills for continuous learning in mathematics and related disciplines, and for applications to the real world.
C. SCIENCE (Physics & Chemistry, OR Chemistry & Biology; Subject Code: 5105, 5107)
The 'N' Science (Physics) provides students with a coherent comprehension of energy, matter, and their relationships. It focuses on investigating natural phenomena and then applying patterns, models, principles, theories, and laws to explain the physical behavior of the universe. On the other hand, the 'N' Science (Chemistry and Biology) is designed to place less emphasis on factual materials and greater emphasis on the understanding and application of scientific concepts and principles.
D. COMBINED HUMANITIES (Subject Code: 2194)
Social Studies
The proposed syllabus is organised around two core ideas - "Being Rooted" and "Living Global". Through these two ideas, the syllabus aims to develop our students to become well-informed and responsible citizens who have a sense of national identity and a global perspective.
Geography
This module is comprised of two major areas: Physical Geography and Human Geography. The first area covers Natural Vegetation and River and Coasts; while the latter includes topics on Geography of Food and Development.
History
This module is designed to provide students with a global perspective of the complexities of international relations. It also highlights the importance of understanding and interpreting history in all its complexity - its people, events, issues, periods, turning points, themes and sources. Likewise, this subject equips students with the necessary skills to make reasoned and informed decisions.
E. MOTHER TONGUE LANGUAGE
Subject Code(s): Chinese Language-1172; Malay Language-1182; Tamil Language-1192
The mother tongue language subjects cover the understanding and application of the language. These syllabuses also intend to enhance the listening, speaking, reading and writing skills of the students' mother tongue.
F. PRINCIPLE OF ACCOUNTS (Subject Code: 7088)
This module is designed to develop an understanding of the principles and concepts of accounting and their applications in a variety of business situations. Students will acquire basic knowledge in double entry and develop the ability to prepare, present, and analyse financial statements.Award Criteria
Students shall be awarded a certificate of attendance upon meeting the minimum 75% attendance requirement for local students (part-time) and 90% for international students and local students (full-time).
Grading System
Grades reflected on the Academic Transcripts are upon 100%, wherein the following equivalents are being used: 0-49%= Failed; and 50%-100=Passed.
Assessment Information
Two (2) Internal Examinations are conducted in an Academic Year namely: Mid-Year and Preliminary Examination.
On the other hand, Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education Normal (Academic) Level Examination is conducted in Singapore annually in September and October.
All students are expected to register for their GCE N(A) Level Examination online at www.seab.gov.sg.
Expected date of release of Assessment result
Assessment results for Internal Examinations (Mid Year and Preliminary Examinations) are released to students within four (4) weeks of the last assessment for that examination cycle.
While the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education Normal (Academic) Level Examination Results are released in December through the Singapore Examination and Assessment Board (SEAB).
