A unique opportunity, using the creative arts therapies to explore creative and non-verbal ways to engage and relate creatively with clients of all ages. Relationships will improve as you find new ways to facilitate true communication and meaningful contact. Each day we use a different creative, therapeutic approach, with fully qualified practitioners, to journey into your inner world to access, and liberate, your own creative core. We will experience dance, movement, music, art, drama, and interactive play.

This course is designed to introduce you to the creative arts in an experiential way. You will leave with a ‘tool-kit’ of skills and an awareness of the creative arts that will enable you to engage with clients of all ages in new and innovative ways rather than relying on spoken language. Deeper relationships will almost certainly ensue as communication skills become more developed and understanding grows. This will be of particular value to those who work with children and young people, traumatised adults, and clients with special needs. Resistant clients, including disengaged youth, respond well to these media.

This is an eclectic, experiential training with a focus on personal development, skills development, and a heightened awareness of the impact of creative approaches. It serves as a particularly useful course for anyone interested in training in any of the creative mediums involved, or in psychotherapy in general, or as continuing professional development for a range of professionals. We will utilise a range of teaching mediums including the use of creative media and experiential work. The workshop is suitable for all who work with children, young people, families and adults. It runs every July for the week next to a Summer School to facilitate those who wish to attend a block of training. Certificates of attendance are presented to each participant.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will:

• have the opportunity to personally try and experience a minimum of four new approaches, and be shown many additional practical and useful creative and play-based techniques;
• Learn new creative techniques to immediately apply to their work in helping children, and clients of all ages;
• Explore the use of dance, movement, art, drama, and interactive play as therapeutic mediums.

The philosophy of teaching that is subscribed to at CTC is that the role of the centre is to facilitate the learning of each trainee, that they have a responsibility to each trainee to support their learning, and that it is their job to make it as easy as possible for each trainee to learn as much as possible.  they see teaching and learning as two distinct, separate, processes. It is not enough for us to teach; they are responsible for doing so in a way that facilitates their trainees to learn as much as possible, including all essential components of the ctheirse. they believe that they can help each trainee achieve their innate potential by providing an appropriate, theyll prepared and enriched environment.  This includes providing a range of learning opportunities, facilities and restheirces, curriculum, supports, suitable trainers etc – a cohesive training package.
