On completion of this unit, learners will be equipped with the necessary knowledge and expertise to perform the duties of an entrant and attendant when working in a confined space, use gas detection instruments and participate in an emergency situation.
COURSE TOPICS
TOPIC 1
Identify duties and responsibilities of all personnel involved in confined space work under the wsh legislations and codes of practice
TOPIC 2
Identify confined space hazards
TOPIC 3
Use gas detection instruments for atmospheric monitoring
TOPIC 4
Comply with permit-to-work system and safe work procedures when working in confined space
TOPIC 5
Participate in an emergency for confined space
PRE-REQUISITES
- English proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills System (ESS) level 2
- Numerical proficiency level equivalent to Employability Skills System (ESS) level 2
- Be able to follow written and oral work instructions
- Know how to use basic PPE provided at workplace
- Basic knowledge of personal protective equipment (PPE)
TARGET AUDIENCE
- New entrants to the chemical and process Industry
- Process technicians or operators looking for skills enhancement
- Personnel interested in joining the chemical and process industry
CERTIFICATION
A safety pass will be issued to each participant on successful completion of the course
