This programme seeks to provide students with high quality teaching and learning experiences that are relevant to business and management careers where students will be developed in subject specific knowledge appropriate to business-related management careers. This includes units such as Personal and Professional Development, Working with and Leading People, Managing Business Activities to Achieve Results and Managing Communications, Knowledge and Information. Students will also develop the capacity for critical analysis, evaluation and synthesis, through the application of knowledge to a wide range of situations.
The programme will also encourage creativity and develop appropriate research, communication and quantitative skills to prepare students for a career in business and management, and for progression to further study.
Finally, this programme endeavours to develop students to become autonomous learners and to reflect upon personal skill development, thus encouraging life-long learning.
MODULE STRUCTURE / DESCRIPTION
Business Environment
The aim of this unit is to provide learners with an understanding of different organisations, the influence of stakeholders and the relationship between businesses and the local, national and global environments.
Managing Financial Resources and Decisions
The unit aim is to provide learners with an understanding of where and how to access sources of finance for a business, and the skills to use financial information for decision making.
Organisations and Behaviour
The aim of this unit is to give learners an understanding of individual and group behaviour in organisations and to examine current theories and their application in managing behaviour in the workplace.
Marketing Principles
This unit aims to provide learners with understanding and skills relating to the fundamental concepts and principles that underpin the marketing process.
Aspects of Contract and Negligence for Business
The aim of this unit is to provide learners with an understanding of aspects of the law of contract and tort and the skill to apply them, particularly in business situations.
Business Decision Making
The aim of this unit is to give learners the opportunity to develop techniques for data gathering and storage, an understanding of the tools available to create and present useful information, in order to make business decisions.
Business Strategy
The aim of this unit is to give learners the knowledge and understanding of how a business unit can strategically organise and plan for likely future outcomes in order to be successful.
Research Project
To develop learners’ skills of independent enquiry and critical analysis by undertaking a sustained research investigation of direct relevance to their Higher Education programme and professional development.
Personal and Professional Development
This unit aims to help the learner become an effective and confident self-directed employee. This helps the learner become confident in managing own personal and professional skills to achieve personal and career goals.
Working with and Leading People
The aim of this unit is to develop the skills and knowledge needed for working with and leading others, through understanding the importance of recruiting the right people for the job.
Managing Business Activities to Achieve Results
The aim of this unit is to provide learners with the understanding and skills to manage their activities in the business workplace to improve their effectiveness and efficiency.
Managing Communications, Knowledge and Information
The aim of this unit is to show how communications, knowledge and information can be improved within an organisation including making better use of IT systems.
Business Events Management
The aim of this unit is to provide learners with a knowledge and understanding of different administrative functions and roles and to provide them with the skills to organise events and activities.
Internet Marketing
This unit provides learners with an understanding of internet marketing so they can develop the skills to use the internet for promotion, advertising, interactive communications, market research, developing customer relationships and an internet marketing plan.
Small Business Entreprise
The aim of this unit is to give learners the opportunity to focus on the processes involved, through change management, of reviewing and improving the performance of a small business enterprise.
Employability Skills
This unit provides learners with the opportunity to acquire honed employability skills required for effective employment.
Delivery Method
Lessons will be conducted face-to-face. Lecturers, on top of teaching the modules, will share with the students their wealth of industry experience.

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENT
Participants must have a minimum age of 18 years.
Entry Requirement:
3 GCE ‘A’ Level or equivalent; (or)
3 GCE ‘O’ level or Equivalent, with relevant working experience; (or)
Obtained BTEC Level 4 HNC Diploma in any field; (or)
Obtained AEC Diploma in a related field; (or)
Higher NITEC Qualification or NITEC with minimum B/C grades; (or)
Matured students, who have obtained other qualification (eg: Workplace Literacy Certificate) with relevant work experience will be considered on a case to case basis.
English Proficiency:
IELTS 5.5; or
Paper-based TOEFL score of at least 400; or
Internet-based TOEFL score of 61; or
Computer-based TOEFL score of 173; or
Pass in GCE ‘O’ Level English; or
Pass in AEC Cert in General English Level 4 or Equivalent
ASSESSMENT AND GRADING
This programme will be assessed through a combination of attendance and module assignments. The credits will be based on project assignment on every individual module.
GRADUATION CRITERIA
This programme will be assessed through a combination of attendance and module assignments. The credits will be based on project assignment on every individual module. Students are required to pass all assessment to graduate from this course.
Total credits of courses: 245 credits.

The Higher diploma is awarded by Pearson International, UK’s largest awarding body offering academic and vocational qualifications and testing to schools, colleges, employers and other places of learning in the UK and internationally.
