The aim of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to provide and co-ordinate first aid in the workplace in compliance with the requirements of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007 and the associated Guide to these Regulations
Programme Aim:
At the end of the course the learner will be to:
- To enable the learner to explore the role of Occupational First Aid in organisations
- To facilitate the learner to competently perform a patient assessment
- To enable the learner to recognise and competently treat respiratory emergencies
- To develop the learners competence in Cardiac First Response
- To facilitate the learner understanding and develop their competence in identifying and treating wounds and bleeding
- To facilitate the learner understanding and develop their competence in identifying and treating altered levels of consciousness
- To facilitate the learner understanding and develop their competence in identifying and treating musculoskeletal injuries
- To facilitate the learner understanding and develop their competence in identifying and treating burns and scalds, chemicals, poison, electric shock
Entry Requirement
Leaving cert or equivalent qualification. Relevant life/work experience also considered
