This course has been awarded 7 CME credit hours by the Department of Health (Abu Dhabi)

This CME-accredited course will develop confidence in your ability to insert an intravenous line in a critically ill or premature newborn.

Course topics include:

• Principals of fluid balance
• Fluid and electrolyte balance
• Complications of IV Therapy
• Management of IV Therapy
• Neonatal/Paediatric IV cannulation

On completion of the course, you should be able to:

• Describe the potential complications of IV therapy
• Identify strategies to prevent complications occurring
• Describe the signs and symptoms of complications
• Identify the difference between arteries and veins
• Demonstrate the correct technique for insertion of a peripheral line
