Developed with the Engineering Council as part of the Engineering Gateway programme, this MSc Professional Engineering online degree is a highly flexible, part-time, work-based learning route to obtaining Chartered Engineer (CEng) status. It is recognised by a wide range of engineering institutes such as ICE (Institute of Civil Engineers), IMECHE (Institute of Mechanical Engineers) and IET (Institute of Engineering and Technology) through the Engineering Council.

Entry Requirements

You will require:

• BSc/BEng(Hons) degree which is accredited for either IEng or as part of CEng
• Minimum of two years’ relevant industrial or engineering experience
• Employment within a relevant engineering role

If you don’t have a degree or an accredited degree, we can consider your application if supported by significant industrial experience within the engineering sector.

English language qualifications

If English is not your first language you will need an English language qualification. For this course you will need at least one of the following:

• IELTS 6.5 (minimum of 6.0)
• TOEFL 580 (paper based) 237 (computer based) or 92 (internet based)
• Pearson Test of Academic English: 58
• Cambridge Advanced Certificate: Pass
• London Tests of English: we accept level 5 for postgraduate courses
• International GCE O Level English Language: Grade C
• International GCSE English/English as a Second Language: Grade C.

You will need to complete two compulsory modules: Research Methods: Application and Evaluation, and CPD and Strategic Management. The remaining modules allow you to negotiate the content of your course so that you can meet the requirements of your professional institution for CEng registration

Postgraduate Certificate (60 credits): You will need to complete three x 20 credit modules

Postgraduate Diploma (60 credits): You’ll need to complete two core 20 credit modules and select one optional 20 credit modules

MSc (60 credits): you will need to complete a triple module worth 60 credits.
