The MSc in Education and Training Management (eLearning) offers a variety of perspectives and new approaches to teaching, training and learning. You are encouraged to provide evidence-based accounts of how you are improving work practices within your organisation and generating new knowledge.

The eLearning strand is unique in its expertise in practice-based and practice-led research, which allows a depth of qualitative analysis unparalleled in other Irish institutions.

eLearning allows for the development of synergy - the interaction of the students is integral to the success of the programme.

Aims and Objectives:

  • Critical reflection on practice and evaluation of the effectiveness of changing practice.
  • Critical understanding of the effective use of collaborative tools and digital technologies for learning.
  • Practical use of multimedia authoring tools and methods for creating eLearning content for use in a range of workplace context.
  • Enhance your ability to work individually, collaboratively and creatively in a way that will benefit your learning and the learning of the organisation.

MSc in Education and Training Management (e-learning): funded by the Irish Government under the National Development Plan 2007-2013.

Programme Structure:

On this programme, participants are examined by continuous assessment, with the final stage requiring the completion of a practice-led or practice-based dissertation. Assessment includes action research projects, case studies, educational multimedia projects and team based assignments.

Students who do not wish to complete a dissertation (or dissertation practicum) may graduate with a Graduate Diploma in Education and Training Management (eLearning), upon successful completion of the programme modules.

Entry Requirements:

Applicants must have a good honours degree (minimum 2.2) with three years substantial experience working in a recognised education/training environment. In certain circumstances, applicants not possessing the above qualifications may be considered if they are able to present, at interview, evidence of professional experience and responsibility in a relevant area of work, and high-level interest in the research literature relevant to one of the themes highlighted in the programme. Such applicants will be required to submit a written assignment (3000 words) or portfolio prior to interview.

Candidates should note that an interview is part of the selection process for this programme. Shortlisted candidates are expected to be available for interview.
