MSc in Economics and Financial Risk Analysis programme is structured to provide an international quality education for students with an interest in, and aptitude for, Economics and Finance but who do not necessarily have any prior background in the disciplines. Students are also afforded the opportunity to undertake original research in this area. This programme provides rigorous graduate level training in Economics and Finance to a standard appropriate to a professional practitioner.

The programme is designed to provide students with the fundamental concepts and the necessary tools required by the financial sector. Focusing on Financial Risk Analysis, Derivatives, Investments and Econometrics, this programme provides students with the quantitative skills needed by employers and thus opens up a diverse set of career opportunities both within and outside the financial sector.

Entry Requirements

An honours primary degree in any discipline. Students without any knowledge of Finance and/or are strongly advised to have a good background in Statistics and Quantitative Methods and/or to be prepared to undertake substantial independent study to equip themselves with the expected level of Economics and Finance.

Applicants must have a recognised primary degree which is considered equivalent to Irish university primary degree level.

Minimum English language requirements:

  • IELTS: 6.5 minimum overall score
  • TOEFL (Paper based test): 585
  • TOEFL (Internet based test): 95
  • PTE (Pearson): 62

  • Historian Dr Tom O Connor is working with colleagues from the University of Alcala and the Irish Colleges in Spain, discovering the hidden stories of Irish people who got caught up in the Spanish Inquisition.
