The MSc in Structural Engineering (StrE) is increasingly establishing its reputation as the leading engineering qualification required for advancement in the profession.

Structural Engineering and Structural Materials are considered to be continuously developing subjects. As a result, postgraduate qualifications in Structural Engineering retain their importance for equipping professional engineers with the advanced knowledge and skills required to effectively analyse and design today’s sophisticated buildings and structures. BUiD MSc StrE programme is intended to enhance the knowledge-base of structural engineers by offering modules that fill the needs of the industry. The goal of the programme is to provide additional knowledge and skills in structural engineering to permit the candidate to be more effective in engineering and associated firms and organisations. BUiD’s StrE programme also incorporates issues relating to sustainability and environment as this is a key factor that is expected to develop further over the next decades.

BUiD MSc StrE programme is primarily directed towards candidates who intend to pursue a more challenging structural engineering career in the areas of design or rehabilitation and service of structures. The programme is suitable for individuals who already have a good grasp of structural engineering fundamentals such as structural mechanics and materials. In addition, they must already have knowledge of structural designs using different structural materials. The basic knowledge may have been acquired through undergraduate civil or mechanical engineering courses, or from professional experience in design or both.
