Master the fundamentals of screenwriting and completion of a fully detailed treatment of a feature film. Emphasis is placed on character development, story construction, screenplay structure, visual storytelling, and most importantly, finding the participants’ own voices as writers. Selected film clips will be studied to reveal their screenwriting ‘secrets’ while focusing primarily on turning the participants’ film ideas into the producible, pitchable, professional film stories.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Screenwriting 101: Understanding what is drama, how to build a powerful storyline and how to create a memorable character
- Learn about research methods and how to make your characters relatable to both your audience and yourself
- Experience a film pitch session in class
