This course provides a practical grounding in critical aspects of information systems (IS) management, together with an understanding of current research. On completion of the MSc, students will be equipped with the professional knowledge, expertise and competencies required to assume more senior roles in information systems management in any sector of society. Some graduates pursue further research.
The course consists of a taught component and a substantial research project resulting in a dissertation of approximately words. Students are actively encouraged to research topics that are of interest to them and/or relevant to their work and careers. IS theoretical models and perspectives are applied in the course of this research. The taught component covers the following areas: strategic systems planning for information systems; organisational and social impact of information systems; managing the IT customer and supplier environments, innovation and entrepreneurship and research methods.
