تفاصيل الدورة

You’ve identified one of the world's greatest challenges, but what will you do now and how can advocacy help?

Advocacy is about how to influence policymakers and how money is spent in a society. This course is a short, thirty-minute introduction to using advocacy to achieve social change using Kony 2012 as a case study.

Kony 2012 was a short film and advocacy campaign designed to spur the arrest of one of Africa's most infamous leaders: Joseph Kony, leader of the Lord's Resistance Army and recruiter of child soldiers. It would achieve more than 99 million views since its release, becoming the most viral video ever.

In this course, we learn from the successes and failures of this campaign and what it says about how to change things for the better.

The materials consist of five lectures that teach students about how to identify and understand effective advocacy. It covers important advocacy campaign types, including grassroots and grasstops campaigns, and includes exercises for the student to complete along the way.
