Overall aims of Leadership Skills
The aim of this programme is to equip you with relevant knowledge, skills and competences to work in an effective leadership role. This will help deliver better results for an organisation / community / individual level through people, their skills, and their attitude.
What exactly is Leadership
Leadership is ‘getting others to want to do things’. “Leadership is the ability to persuade others to seek defined objectives enthusiastically. It is the human factor which binds a group together and motivates it towards goals.”

Anyone in a supervisory, managerial or leadership role, both in traditional organisations and community / voluntary type organisations Anyone looking to develop or up-skills their leadership skills Anyone looking for promotional where leadership is one of the core competencies
What will I learn?
- Understand the role of leadership, how it has it developed and evolved into the 21st century and understand it’s importance in the current climate
- Examine the key indicators / competencies in today’s fast moving economic climate and understand the principles of leadership
- Differentiate and learn from example (both good and bad) of leadership styles, techniques and approaches
- Evaluate the need for personal and business ethics in leadership
- Establish your own leadership styles and recognise the leadership style of others both inside and outside your own organisation.
- Learn to adapt your style of leadership as the situation / personal / or organisation demands
- Plan for a leadership role and the future of an organisation
- Understand and be able to use problem solving techniques for both personal use and group work
- Recognise the importance the group dynamics, including life cycles, roles in groups, avoiding group think and the impact of power on groups
- Recognise the importance of planning and carrying out of strategy planning
- Understand the leadership role and techniques involved in the planning and delivering of a project through effective leadership and team management and performance
- Identify effective communication skills and how this impacts on leadership
- Evaluate yourself as a leader through the learning process and through self analysis
