This three-day intensive course enables participants develop the necessary knowledge needed to support an organization in implementing Guidance on Project Management as specified in ISO 21500:2012. Participants will also gain a thorough understanding of best practices used to implement and manage project management processes.

Learning objectives

• To understand the implementation of projects in accordance with ISO 21500
• To gain a comprehensive understanding of the concepts, approaches, methods, techniques and processes allowing an effective project management according to ISO 21500
• To understand the relationship between the project management and the compliance with the requirements of different stakeholders of an organization
• To acquire the competence to initiate, plan, implement, control and close a project as specified in ISO 21500
• To understand the relationship between Project Management and compliance with the requirements of different stakeholders

Course Agenda
Day 1: Introduction to Project Management concepts as required by ISO 21500

• Introduction to Project Management
• Terms and definitions related to Project Management
• Project Management standards, frameworks and methodologies
• Detailed presentation of the clauses 3 and 4 of ISO 21500

Day 2: Planning and Implementing the processes as specified in ISO 21500

• Implementation phases of the ISO 21500 framework
• The Project Management processes  
• Direct project work
• Manage stakeholders
• Develop project team
• Treat risks

Day 3: Controlling and closing processes as specified in ISO 21500 and Certification Exam

• Perform quality assurance
• Distribute information
• Control project work and changes
• Control scope
• Control resources and manage project team
• Control schedule
• Control costs
• Control risks

Prerequisites

• ISO 21500 Foundation Certification or basic knowledge of ISO 21500 or Project Management is recommended

Educational approach
This training is based on both theory and practice:

• Sessions of lectures illustrated with examples based on real cases
• Practical exercises based on a full case study including role playing and oral presentations
• Review exercises to assist the exam preparation
• Practice test similar to the certification exam
• To benefit from the practical exercises, the number of training participants is limited

Examination
Candidates that attend this training will be provided with the "Certified ISO 21500 Lead Project Manager" exam, which fully meets the requirements of the PECB Examination and Certification Program (ECP). The exam covers the following competence domains:

• Domain 1: Fundamental principles and definitions in project management
• Domain 2: Guidance on Project Management Best Practices based on ISO 21500
• Domain 3: Planning a project based on ISO 21500
• Domain 4: Implementing a project based on ISO 21500
• Domain 5: Performance evaluation, monitoring and measurement of a project based on ISO 21500
• Domain 6: Continual improvement of a project based on ISO 21500
• Domain 7: Preparation for a project management audit
