This five-day programme is designed to provide participants with the basic knowledge of process characteristics and process control systems.

COURSE OBJECTIVE

At the end of the course, participants will have a good understanding of process characteristics and process control systems.

COURSE OUTLINE

Theory

• Principle of operation of gas chromatography
• Concept of process gain, dead time and time constant
• Manual-auto-cascade operation
• Meaning of SV, PV and MV
• Effects of P, I and D
• Explanation and description of boiler drum and heat-exchanger pilot plant
• Familiarization with the start-up procedures of the pilot plant
• Concept of feedback, feedforward and cascade control
• Controller tuning methods
• Discussion on the operation of the heat exchanger
• Fault simulation and trouble-shooting

Practical

• Flow control, discussion
• Tuning methods using process simulator, 1- element level control, 2-element level control, 3-element level control, discussion
• Temperature control, discussion
• Integrated plant operation

COURSE LEADER

The course leader is a Yokogawa-certified trainer in process measurement and control appreciation.
