What is this course about?

This proposed programme will provide an opportunity for students to study for a one year Higher Diploma in Arts in Applied Social Studies. This programme is being offered as a means for people to qualify as Social Care Workers. This programme is designed for graduates of non-Social Care who are working or wish to work in the Social Care sector. All successful applicants will have to do 800 hours of Supervised Professional Practice as part of this Higher Diploma.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this course, students should be equipped with sufficient knowledge and skills in Applied Social Studies to enable them to make a professional contribution to social care nationally and internationally.

What are the minimum entry requirements?

To be eligible for consideration for this Higher Diploma in Applied Social Studies, the applicant must hold a minimum Level 8 qualification in a nonsocial care area. All applicants will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Lifelong Learning reserves the right to require applicants to attend for interview to determine their suitability for the programme.

Garda vetting is required for this programme.
