This course will explore the role of poetry in fostering children’s imaginations, using the poetry of W.B. Yeats to model how all aspects of the English Language Curriculum can be developed through the use of poetry.

Through this course participants will:

• Examine how pupils will be enabled to develop an emotional & imaginative life by expressing individual responses to poems and discussing different interpretations.
• Explore different responses to poetry through discussion, writing, drama, visual arts & dance.
• Explore the importance of reading & listening to poetry.
• Examine the role of the teacher initiating discussion & guiding pupils in their responses to poetry.
