Every company can benefit from an effective safety committee.   Unfortunately, most safety committees do not understand their purpose or the role they play in assisting management to provide a safe and healthful workplace.  

This course helps the candidate understand his/ her responsibilities as a safety committee member.   It will help the safety committee chairperson successfully lead a safety committee.

Occupational Safety & Health Committee Members, Safety Professionals/ Practitioners

Course Objectives 

On completion of this course, participants should be able to:

• Explain the role of the OSH Committee and their role in risk management in the workplace;
• Explain what needs to be done for their committee to be more effective\
• Review the effectiveness of the operation of the committee so that areas where improvements can be made can be addressed
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the OSH management system in their workplace and identify and prioritize those areas which should receive the committee's attention
• Develop recommendations that will enable  the committee to deal with problems in the working of their committee and the way in which OHS issues are addressed

Course Assessment 

• Written examination: at least 70% of 25 questions.
