This course has been designed to give students a fundamental knowledge of all aspects of music and sound technology, while providing the encouragement and scope for students to delve deeper into areas of interest. Tuition consists of a combination of theory based classes and practical tutorials which take place in our purpose built state-of-the-art studio and dedicated media production suite that runs industry standard music technology software. Students have access to these facilities outside of class time and are expected to work in groups and independently to complete their assignments. The field of music technology is constantly evolving and in order to provide the required skill sets for this adaptive industry, City and Guilds have revised their previous course. Griffith College is one of the first institutions in Ireland to deliver this newly updated qualification. Griffith College has an impressive media faculty with successful courses in Journalism, TV/Video and Photography. Our students are encouraged to participate within the faculty by assisting with the College's radio station, Griff FM, and recording and mastering audio for the TV and Video students' films.

About the course

The GCD Sound and Music Technology course covers the full spectrum of digital audio production, and will appeal to both artists and performers as well as those who are interested in audio engineering. If you want to produce music professionally this is the course for you. With an excellent range of facilities and equipment, students will receive individual practical training grounded in theory. Practical assignments during the course will provide hands-on studio time in GCD’s production suite equipped with dedicated workstations.
