Derivatives are described as Off balance Sheet products because unlike the cash markets there is typically no exchange of the principal amount of the asset or liability involved. Derivatives Level 2 builds on Derivatives Level 1 course. Participants will enhance their understanding in the derivatives market by mastering complex hedging techniques.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Describe the mechanics of using money market interest rate derivatives to hedge interest rate risks.
- Explain the terminology of forward-forward loan or deposit and use of Forward Rate Agreement (FRA) / Futures
- Classify different types of swaps
- Illustrate the use of Interest Rate Swaps (IRS) to hedge a position in FRA or Futures
- Calculate the settlement amount of the FRA, Futures, IRS, pay-offs in Caps/Floor/Collar and amounts for hedging using Delta

Entry Requirements
Participants should have completed the Derivatives level 1.
