This course is designed to provide the learner with a strong base of knowledge in the area of advanced database design and implementation. This course is aimed at students who have previous experience with databases or who have completed Databases 1 at CCT.
Programme Aims and Objectives
This course aims to provide the learner with the knowledge needed to implement an industry standard database. Once this module has been completed the learner will be able to:
- Assess the data storage needs of a client
- Design a data storage solution by selecting the most appropriate technologies to the clients needs
- Develop a custom database structure with consideration to data sizes and data storage optimisations available

This course is designed to provide the learner with a deep understanding of the available data storage solutions on the market today. Topics covered during this module include:
- Database types
- Assessment of data storage solutions
- Relational and non-relational databases
- Object oriented databases
- NoSQL databases
- Big Table
- Data integrity
- Database server redundancy
- Data validation and sanitization
- Data analysis techniques
