• This course aims at teaching students how to setup, configure and administer Linux network. 
• Students will learn how to configure a Linux system in a networked environment, configure network interface cards, dial-up interfaces for TCP/IP and turning the Linux box into a router. 

• Remote log on to system remotely using X, configure sharing services like NFS, NIS, Samba, and popular Internet services offered through xinetd like telnet, ftp, tcp-wrappers, etc. and learn how to compile and update a kernel.

• Students will then learn how to configure a Linux server providing Web services like a full-fledged DNS structure, use Apache server to present Web content, setting up mail server using Sendmail and Newsgroup server.

• Linux security issues like configuring PAM authentication, file and account security, security and audit services, OS hardening, encryption-enabled services like SSH and sate-inspection firewall are also covered.
