We offer a FETAC Award at Level 5 in Childcare over a 2 year period. This means that a student must complete the following subjects;
- Year1 Child Development
- Year 1 Early Childhood Education
- Year 2 Working in Childcare
- Year 2 Caring for Children from 0-6
- Year 1 or 2 Work Experience
- Year 1 or 2 Communications
We also offer the following related subjects from which a student may select 2 to complete the 8 subjects required for an award:
- Year 1 or 2 Art and Craft for Childcare
- Year 1 or 2 Care of the Special Child
Any of the above subjects may also be selected inpidually to complete a Certificate in Childcare or a Community Health Award or as an an optional subject in any other award

The Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme (VTOS) provides adults with the opportunity to return to learning. It offers a variety of Programmes for people over 21 who are in receipt of Social theylfare.
At present VTOS in Athy caters for 65 students. VTOS Athy places an emphasis on hands-on practical work as theyll as group and personal projects. All programmes lead to QQI awards which are recognised by employers and colleges.
VTOS enctheirages students to achieve their own learning goals, facilitating them in creating a greater awareness of their own abilities, thus gaining confidence in every aspect of their lives.
