This is a course that goes over the general structure of the manufacturing sector, what career opportunities are available and what training and skills are required to pursue those careers. Students will learn about the three largest technical areas in manufacturing:
- Research and Development
- Manufacturing and Production
- Quality
A student will gain a general understanding of what takes place and who is involve in the creation of a product from where the initial idea comes from to how that idea is created for the final customer and what role each professional plays in the process.
The student will also learn key concepts such as the product life cycle, who is involved in the prototyping process and why a prototype is needed as well as how the market place can change and dictate a product.
What the student will walk away with is enough information to decide if a career in manufacturing is what they want and what role they want to play as well as how to get there.
