This is a part time course designed to provide learners with the necessary skills and knowledge to work in the Beauty Therapy industry.

Course Content:

Mandatory Components

Anatomy and Physiology (5N0749) Body Massage and figure Analysis (5N3465) Skin Care, Eye treatments and Make-up(5N3466) Manicure Pedicure and Waxing (5N3467) Customer Service (5N0972) Work Experience (5N1356)

Elective Components

Facial Electrics (5N3468) Retail Selling (5N1619) Beauty Industry Ethics & Practice (5N3470) Nutrition (5N2006) Body Electrics (5N3469)

Entry Requirements:

Leaving Certificate / Leaving Certificate Applied or QQI/ FETAC Level 4. Mature students with relevant life or work experience. All candidates will be interviewed individually.

Work Experience:

The Work Experience Component is a mandatory component of the course. Learners are required to complete a work experience placement for this component.

Certification:

QQI Level 5 Major Award in Beauty Therapy.

Prospects:

Successful completion of the course will enable learners to seek employment in the Beauty Care industry. Opportunities also exist for Learners to progress on to level 6 Awards in Beauty Therapy and other related fields or to study at Third level through the Higher Education Links Scheme.
