This course is designed to pro­vide an intro­duc­tion to the the­ory and prac­ti­cal aspects of social stud­ies and social care.

Entry Require­ments:

Appli­ca­tions are invited from those who have com­pleted Leav­ing Cer­tifi­cate or equiv­a­lent. Mature stu­dents are also wel­come to apply. Good writ­ing skills are an essen­tial require­ment. Two writ­ten ref­er­ences must be pre­sented at inter­view. Stu­dents must apply for Garda Clear­ance at Reg­is­tra­tion in September.

Pro­gres­sion and Career Options:

Grad­u­ates will have a nation­ally recog­nised qual­i­fi­ca­tion enabling them to seek employ­ment in the car­ing ser­vices, youth, fam­ily and com­mu­nity work. The vast major­ity of stu­dents com­plet­ing this course progress to social and health related degree courses in Insti­tutes of Tech­nol­ogy and Universities.
