This course has been awarded 9 CME hours by the Department of Health (Abu Dhabi)According to the World Health Organization (WHO:2004), healthcare workers should be equipped with the requisite knowledge, skills and attitudes for good infection control practices. This includes: regular training programs for essential infection control practices and periodic re-training or orientation of staff.
This one-day course has been developed to provide you with up-to-date information about locally and globally approved infection control practices for healthcare workers.
Course topics include:
- Chain of infection
- Breaking the chain of infection
- Waste management
- Bloodborne pathogens
- Decontamination and sterilisation
- Infection control in high risk areas
- Infection control surveillance and reporting
- Identify the components of the chain of infection
- Explain the correct sequence of donning and removing of personal protective equipment
- Demonstrate competence in the correct hand hygiene technique in a simulated situation
- Describe how to choose appropriate disinfection and/or sterilisation methods for critical, semi-critical and non-critical instruments
