The Accounting Technician course is a professional qualification providing participants with a highly regarded qualification that enhances their career prospects.
As a graduate of this course, you will:
- Hold qualifications relevant to business, industry, private practice and the public sector
- Possess valuable skills appropriate for a variety of careers including Accounts Assistant, Audit Assistant, Credit Controller, Payroll Assistant and Stock Controller.
- Have a good understanding of the principles of financial and management accounting, taxation and business management
- Possess practical and management skills necessary for the workplace
- Build your communication and management skills
Examination and Certification
- Students take examinations in May each year. Repeat sittings are taken in August. All examinations are set and graded independently of the College by Accounting Technicians Ireland.
- Exam results are generally available in early July (May sitting) and late September (August sitting) and are sent directly to the student by Accounting Technicians Ireland.
- On passing all Certificate (Year 1) examinations, students are awarded the Certificate for Accounting Technicians.
Entry Requirements
- Applicants aged 20 or younger must have five passes (including English and either Maths or Accounting) on Ordinary Level papers or four passes including two higher level subjects (passes to include Maths or Accounting at either level).
These entry criteria do not apply to mature students aged 21 or older.
Mature Students (Over 21)
- May apply on the basis of maturity and experience.
