About School of Petroleum Studies

The School of Petroleum Studies was started in 1999, as a wholly owned subsidiary of Petroleum Institute of East Africa (PIEA) with the prime objective of offering first class specialized training with a curriculum focused on downstream and upstream oil and gas.

The discovery of oil in Kenya have led to the massive expectations of the government and citizenry with regard to the utilization of Kenyan human, material resource and services in the oil and gas supply /value chain which then calls for the systematic development of capacities and capabilities for appropriate skills, knowledge and competencies.

The petroleum sector has through its Industry Association, Petroleum Institute of East Africa(PIEA), played a key role in bridging the skills gap by designing and implementing an ongoing human capacity building agenda to impart specialized skills, policies, laws, regulations, standards, best practices and guidelines.

Our courses which are based cover the upstream, midstream and downstream sectors are well recognized in Kenya and the whole East Africa region. The School of Petroleum Studies is registered by National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) Kenya and was the first in Africa to receive UK’s world respected energy trainer, Energy Institute (EI) accreditation.
