About Leinster School of Music & Drama
Established in 1904 The We_They has a long-standing tradition as both a centre for learning and examining. Experienced and dedicated teachers provide excellent tuition to pupils of all ages and levels in Ireland’s premier music college. The emphasis is on learning through enjoyment, and while exams are encouraged they are not compulsory in the School. Students past and present are prominent performers both at national and international level, with many appearing at the National Concert Hall and other venues throughout Ireland, and many others employed by orchestras and opera companies around the globe. Many of the current teaching staff are also firmly established in the performance arena. This experience, combined with their depth of teaching knowledge enhances the unique learning experience offered by Ireland's leading music academy and drama school. As Ireland’s largest independent music academy offering examiniations nationwide, We_They also offers music courses, including the validated Music Diploma (20 credits Certificate in Music Teaching/LSMD Associate Diploma & 40 credits Certificate in Music Teaching/ LSMD Licentiate Diploma). We at the LSMD offer candidates the opportunity to do a Higher Diploma in Arts in Music Education Course. This is the only Higher Diploma in the country offering a specialised music education qualification. Candidates can progress to this Level 8 course and qualify to teach instrumental music in Ireland and around the world. The Drama School’s Music and Speech & Drama grade syllabi are taught by dedicated LSMD teachers throughout Ireland as well as on campus here in Griffith College Dublin.
