The establishment of Education and Training Boards (ETBs) was announced in June 2011 by the Minister for Education and Skills, Ruairí. Quinn, T.D. The integration of Vocational Education Committees (VECs) from 33 to 16 sees the integration of County Kildare VEC with County Wicklow VEC as an ETB. After 83 years, all VECs have ceased to exist. On Monday, July 1st 2013 Kildare and Wicklow ETB officially commenced as an Education and Training provider in both counties under the leadership of Mr Seán Ashe, Chief Executive.
Kildare and Wicklow Education and Training Board (KtheyTB) provides a comprehensive range of education services throughout Kildare and Wicklow. As the largest educational provider in counties Kildare and Wicklow, the ETB provides educational and training opportunities for learning from the ‘cradle to the grave’ through an ETB Community National School, Second Level Schools, Post Leaving Certificate Courses (PLCs), Adult, Further Education and Training and Youth Support Service.
