About PMI Mumbai Chapter
It provides excellent opportunities to the project community to participate in seminars, open forums and other educational programs. In addition, it plays an important role in developing an understanding of local differences to the standard PMI® approaches and of their benefits and drawbacks. All these Chapter activities go a long way in establishing strong networks of project professionals. Networking is very important to project managers.
PMI® represents members worldwide who are actively advancing the Project Management profession. The networking of these professionals serves to advance the profession through the free exchange of ideas and expressions, thereby creating vast learning opportunities. These constant learning processes help organizations to improve the effectiveness of their project efforts. These networks also bring people in project-operating and project-owner organizations together on informal and non-commercial platforms that enhance understanding of issues faced by both.
PMI® promotes Specific Interest Groups (SIGs) and the Mumbai Chapter actively encourages and helps project people to participate in these SIGs. SIGs enable members to share experiences with others who are managing similar types of projects in specific businesses, such as information technology, pharmaceuticals, construction, etc., to discuss common project challenges. These members overcome geographic boundaries using alternate forms of communication such as the internet.
